A lot of US "surplus" in the 50's and 60's also went to Yugoslavia,  
when their relationship soured with the USSR and they were afraid of  
an invasion, in spite of them being Communist as well. Yugoslavia got  
BC-611's, and lots of GRC-9's among other things.
Then they developed their own manufacturing of electronics gear and  
started to turn out some goodies.
