I had an ex-pal, GW3NJY, that put a 1000kc xtal in a BC-453's rfa socket.
12K8's triode was osc & pentode took input fm a '348. 1000-915 = 85
Voila! Elegantly simple & almost no hackery.
Luvv'd it.
Cud doit today & avoid the alteration goon squad's wrath.
