[Milsurplus] eBay does it

Personally, I don't see the big problem with PayPal.
I very seldom buy if I can't use PayPal for payment.
I have bought an awful lot of stuff on eBay in the
past few years, including two motorcycles! Actual
final payment was through bank draft with normal
payment procedures for a vehicle, but the "hold"
confirmation was through PayPal.

I have never sold on eBay (yet) but probably need to
do so to clean out my garage, shack and hall leading
to the shack! That would sure make my SWMBO (She
Who Must Be Obeyed) happier!

I believe that occasional sellers do not have to accept
credit card, but are able to specify bank-to-bank transfers.
I know that I have paid that way frequently. When it
is obvious that the seller is not "in business" I use that
method to save him/her the credit card processing fees.

I'm aware that eBay doesn't care whether we small sellers stay or go (the current CEO called us "noise"). They don't care whether military radio parts or vintage clothing get listed or not. But whether you have a PayPal account or not, 99% of you have credit cards and use them regularly. Probably half of the 1% who don't are on the FBI's Most Wanted list.Frankly, I'm not totally unhappy to see checks and MO's go away. We've always accepted them. But given the inefficency of the average buyer about getting it in the mail and the steadily increasing inefficiency of USPS First Class Mail (their claimed transit time is total BS), the average time between end of auction and receipt of a check or MO to pay for it is about 14 days domestic and 17 days international. So we accept them sorta reluctantly. Plus about 50% of our unpaid auctions are with buyers who said (sometimes several times) that they were sending a check or MO but never did.But boycott to your heart's content. The only people you are going to hurt are small sellers like us.
