Here in Hawaii, we have one or two major ones each year, one each on
Oahu and the Big Island. "Major" is something like your basic yard
sale, not like the fests on the mainland. As a result, I have to
depend on people on the lists and *shudder* eBay for what I need/want.
For eBay, while I use PP, I prefer having my bank cut a check just
like I do for folks I've bought from here - not for the paper trail
but for trust issues. Losing that option makes things like Craiglist
that much more inviting.
An ideal situation for me would be to have someone who does go to the
hamfests have available cash from a fund set up for the purpose of
picking up things for me while [s]he's wandering around. But here
again are problems, some obvious and some not so obvious. One of
those problems - a major one, in fact - is *who*. The rest trickle
down from there.
I guess I should post a needs & wants list somewhere. The needs for
the displays is on my A.R.C. blog but it's incomplete and I need to
update it a bit. Wants will go to the other blog when I remember to
put it up.
Anyway, now that I've muddied the waters some, I'll go back to sorting
tools and watch parts.
Best regards,
Michael, WH7HG
