[Milsurplus] Key Question CMI-26003A

John,

The Cxx-26003A "flameproof" Navy key was used on Navy aircraft.
I have several photos of radio operators positions with the radios, on board
several types of Navy aircraft.
One early setup in PBY's was the GO-9 transmitter with the RU-19 receiver -
the photo clearly shows that key.
Some other Navy aircraft had the RU-series receivers with the GF series
transmitters (the predecessors of the Command Set), the same key was listed
as part of the system.
I have a photo of a late model PBY4 type patrol aircraft with an ATC (the
Navy version of the ART-13) and the 3 RAX receivers.
The "competitor" of the ATC was the ATD, which was usually paired with the
ARB receiver. The transmitter manual shows the "flameproof" key.
So it looks like all Navy aircraft radio setups used the flameproof key as a
standard accessory.
BTW Bunnell still has NOS, in the box keys of that type of their
manufacture, selling them for $85 , the last time I looked on their website.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Key Question CMI-26003A

Hi,

I have a Morse Key, marked CMI-26003A with a USN Anchor stamp on the
bottom. It's apparently a "Flameproof" key, but what set(s) was it typically
used with.

Thanks,
-John
