I'm not sure why you would guess anywhere near a KW for something made in 
1943.  Consider a moderately compact medium power line operated transmitter of 
the era, the 750 Watt (CW input) HT-4 (BC-610).  The plate transformer alone is 
about as large as the RA-62 and weighs maybe three times as much.  Plus 
consider that at that time providing 4 amps at 14 VDC in a unit that could be picked 
up easily (and turned over safely) wasn't trivial.  Or to compare apples to 
apples consider the weight and volume of the other two common VHF AM ground or 
shipboard transmitters of WW-II, the BC-640 and the TDQ.  Not including the 
PE-75 and wire equipment, the SCR-624 was quite a bit lighter than either.
