I have a real working setup, in some sense. When I acquired the 618T
it was in the Vietnam-era vehicular configuration, which had it enclosed
in a watertight aluminum coffin. Normally this set includes a 400 Hz
inverter, an RTTY converter, and an external antenna tuner. However
I got it less the 400 Hz inverter and antenna tuner and RTTY converter,
but with a smaller 400 Hz inverter that is used in the ARC-102 setup.
I got rid of the coffin and replaced it with a simple L-shaped aluminum
plate that mounts all the connectors that were in the back of the
original case. This makes it much easier to work on things. Mine
has the ugly but functional 313V-1 control box, connected to the main
unit by a too-short cable.
I have a 180L-2 antenna tuner and don't know whether it is in working
order. I connected it to the 618T once and it blew the fuse of the
inverter, so probably the inverter isn't big enough to run the
antenna tuner. The 180L-2 tuner is probably too low in power handling
capability for the radio anyway.
With those reservations the set works fine.
