Clare,
I have a couple of extra originals of the manual on the set, AN 08-10-94.
$30 plus shipping. It's been years since I read them but if I recall correctly,
you unhook the latch in the strap. Then while seated you put the transmitter
between your legs (just above the knees) with the crank on top and the crank
well toward you. You latch the strap under your legs and tighten it. Then
you hook the antenna lead to the radio and start cranking.
