So, a correction to my previous post: i would expect the
run of the mill PBY in the Pacific area to have GO/RU
equipment.
This "sort of " tallies with what i heard from Pete Peterson
of Seattle, who told me he was radio operator on some 
post-war ferry flights where PBYs donated to the Philippine
military were delivered to that country from West Coast 
USA. He described the RU as a good  CW receiver and the
GO, a lot of knob twiddling when changing frequencies for
the position reports. -Hue
