Tom, one of the most interesting hands on  display to catch the imagination 
of visitors  and demonstrate Morse code  was a display I saw recently  at 
the  New Jersey Antique Radio Club located  at InfoAge in Belmar, New 
Jersey. The club had set up a BC-348 receiver and antenna and allowed 
visitors to use the receiver to tune in low frequency radio beacons. The 
visitor would write down the dots and dashes heard  from each  beacon and 
then  "decipher" the code using an available code character list. The low 
frequency beacons repeat their identification continuously and it is fairly 
easy to get a complete copy of the dot and dash characters .  Then they 
would look up the identifier in a "location" book to come up with a location 
of the beacon and look at its location on a chart.
