This is our second run since the Hosstraders gang retired in February.
The May event exceeded our wildest dreams, so we're moving forward
this October with the addition of guest speakers and workshops. Of
particular interest to the milsurplus crowd:
Friday October 12th:
5:00 PM: The R-390A Receiver Workshop with George Rancourt, K1ANX
Saturday, October 13th:
9:00 AM: Military Communications and the ENIGMA during WWII with Dr.
Tom Perera, Ph.D, W1TP
Those of you familiar with these gentlemen and their credentials know
how fortunate we are to have their participation. George will be doing
a walk through of the R-390A: its layout, individual modules, dropping
the front panel, addressing problem areas and so on. Tom will be
presenting a talk on the German Enigma machine with a show-and-tell
including his examples, a slide show, and a discussion of the history
and technology involved. Both will offer a Q & A session following
their respective presentation and have items and materials available
for attendees.

Also worth mentioning is the area of the hamfest dedicated to the
milsurplus crowd, their radio equipment, and vehicles ranging from
restored jeeps to communications vans to Duece and a Halfs and so on.
Dale KW1I, Brown W1NZR, Tom W2ILA are just a few of the faces you'll
recognize in this area. Dale's beautiful and fully functioning,
jeep-mounted GRC-19 always draws a crowd. They whip up a great
breakfast with eye-opening coffee on Saturday morning for the early
risers who wander by, too.
If you're in the northeast or planning a trip here around that time,
you won't want to miss it. Much more than just another radio flea
market.
