[Milsurplus] TS-535/U signal generator keep or take apart?

I am in need of a large chassis to house a 4kv power supply. I have this 
TS-535/U signal generator sitting here and the chassis looks like it 
would be perfect for my power supply project. Should I take it apart or 
don't even think of taking it apart? I don't want to destroy a valuable 
piece of history but if it is worthless then it is coming apart right now.
