The C-405A/A is for variants of the USAAF AN/ARC-8. The C-131/AR and associated remote controls are US Navy, and thus unrelated to the C-405. Using the C-131 and R-26 with the T-47 is (IMHO) a typical USN kludge-job arising from the USN not having a receiver matching the characteristics of the T-47/ART-13 until the AN/ARR-15 arrived (but even that receiver provided no LF/MF beacon band coverage). The USAAF AN/ARC-8 used the AN/ARR-11 (BC-348), which very well matched the associated T-47A/ART-13, except for lack of receiver remote control capability.

Nothing too odd there. The C-405/A is USAAF/USAF, while the C-740/ART-13 is USN. The C-740 is a modern-style six-inch backlighted plasic-face front panel, while the C-405 is an earlier type of all-metal, no backlight, panel. The C-740 uses a connector plug identical to that used on the original C-87/ART-13, while the C-405 uses a terminal strip.

They are significantly different mechanically, as noted above. The C-405 is part of the USAF AN/ARC-8. The C-740/ART-13 and the C-733A/ARR-15A are part of the USN AN/ARC-25 combo of the AN/ART-13 and AN/ARR-15A.

The USAAF/USAF and the USN marched to slightly different drum beats in the same time interval.
