I looked through the 4 manuals i have and the only thing i saw that even
came close to what you would need was on a schematic for the system. TO
AN 16-30ART13-4, Fig 8-43, 8 March 49/Rev. 15 Sept. 1954, AN
16-30ART-13-3, August 1954 and AN 08-30ART13-5 also known as NAVAIR
16-30ART13-5, 20 Jan 1945/Rev. 15 July 1954 for reference material.
Looks like you could use either the connector at UG-6/U in place of the
original C-87 or pick off the wires as needed at TS-2 where you could
also wire in COntrol panel C-405/A. I checked all 4 of my ART-13
manuals and saw nothing about the Yardeny tuner as far as attachments go.
Must be in some manual other than those i have cause in these three
there isn't a mention of that. WOnder if there was an ARC paper that
showed the modification to the receiver and what external wiring was
needed to make it function.
Another oddity i saw is that in TM 11-692B-2/ AN 16-30art13-3 they talk
about and show a C-405A control head. Nothing about the C-740. In TO
08-30ART13-5 they show the C-740 and nothing on the C-405 although they
look identical to me. Didn't verify wiring but both are designated as
Pilots control panel. Both TO's are dated about the same time frame
1953 and 1954.
I had an R-XX receiver here that was modified for the tuner but i don't
recall any connector for external wiring. Hmmmmm. Maybe my instant
recall isn't functioning as i think it should. Michael!
