Bottom line is that if you are actually getting 10K ohms across the 
first primary, that's not what it should be, regardless of what the 
correct figure actually is.  I don't know why it doesn't just show as 
open.  When one of the IF's in a BC-611 goes open, the reading goes to 
several megohms, depending upon how much MFP varnish was globbed over 
the surrounding wiring.

Anyway, before discarding the 1st IF transformer, you should remove it 
and open it up and look at where both wires come out of the primary.  
When this happens to a BC-611-F transformer, sometimes the break will 
be right at the solder terminal instead of flush with the surface of 
the coil.  And with care, you can repair it.
