     I agree - squelched FM, possibly even from Moto Talkabouts or other tinny speakers.  One voice sounds common to all three recordings.  All that's missing is <Checkmate King Two this is White Rook. Over.>

I've been told this is recorded "radio chatter" from WWII
infantry combat against the Japanese.  
You do hear a mention of Japanese Type 97 tanks.  
I'm not sure I believe these are authentic.
What radios would be in use?  These seem like 
 squelched FM sets.  This sounds more like PC game audio.
What do you think??
