Somebody previously mentioned the S-Line clones made by 
the Eldico company.  We had those at the MARS station at 
Carswell AFB, TX (NW of Ft Worth, TX) during the mid 60s. 
They seemed to work pretty well. 
 
The ham callsign of the MARS station was K5FFB (Fabulous 
Fly Boys).  We also had another station set up in the B-52F 
Alert Facility (Mole Hole) using the call of WA5DNH (Distinguished 
Noble and Handome) running to a Mosley TA-33.  It was a bit 
ironic, to say the least to talk to "U" stations from that station 
that was behind the stage in the briefing room! 
 
>From the roof of that facility, those of us who were on nuclear 
alert watched the first two flights of the F-111.  The first flight 
was unintentional when a high speed taxi test turned out to be 
a bit too fast!
