Saw that article, that was the first time someone really explained the
set well. Didn't appear anywhere else, no matching transmitter, so it
was a bit of an oddity. That's some damned good pork, though. Retired
Nat'l Guard pal tells me they used them in the field as entertainment
receivers. He also told me about burying cases of ammo that hadn't
been used for training because turning it back in required reams of
paperwork and hours of time.

Mentioned that in another post, Marty. Pre- FRC-93, too. Strange how
that cheap civvy gear kept sneaking into gov't use. No doubt it
contributed to the Kennedy assassination.
