I have to say that the visitors who checked out the TCS when it was
being operated were, as a rule, blown away by the system. One guy in his
early 20's commented something to the effect: "Imagine having to change
bands on that thing while under fire on the beach..."
BTW: I note that the TX has provision for 4 crystals and the RX front
end is notoriously broad. 5 will get you 10, the receiver was built that
way deliberately. Good, tight TX output on one of 4 channels, and "big
funnels" on the other end to catch the signal without too much fuss
during hairy situations.
