What a wonderful policy!
I've never understood the point of operating rice boxes on US naval museum ships. Even more bizarre and idiotic is the use of items like ham keyers or linear amplifiers tacked on to some rice box or military set. Such ideas originate from those who have absolutely no appreciation of naval service radio, and who are just seeking the opportunity for some ham operation from a unique location...simple ham clowns.
Please, if you have a part in organizing radio operations from a naval museum ship, do it with the appropriate naval radio equipment. Keep the ham gear on shore. Anything else is a insult to the memory of the people who manned and fought the vessel. Chris Nardi (N1UXJ) sounds like someone who gets the big picture.
