Not quite right. My father brought me back a book from Hawaii, 
something like "Incident on Nihau". The pilot along with a 
Japanese American whose loyality to Japan he had solicited,
basically tried to take over the island. Basically, a few of the
natives resisted this, one was shot but managed to bludgeon
the pilot to death, the other fellow shot himself, if i recall.
