It is not the Army's, nor is it H-P's job to maintain an archive of manuals for obsoleted 

equipment. Here is the point. Once the taxpayers have paid for it, why not recover 

some value, instead of destroying the work of human hands and intellect that still has

some usefulness?  For example, what possible good did it do for the defense of the

USA to burn manuals such as "Basic Theory of Transistors"?  I believe in a small,

family-owned company there would be more liklihood to try to get back value for some-

thing the company had paid into. The bigger the organization, the less responsibility 

people have about the the small details. Another reason why Communism doesn't work, BTW.
