[Milsurplus] 2 techno questions

[Unserviceable but Repairable]

Anyone hit on either?

  - low system gain on bc224/338.  found a ruff silver mica in
    one if can.  2 hr job to r&r & wondering if anything else
    pops to mind before going to next 2.

  - using Central Electronics sideband slicer as a CV-591 do-
    alike on a R390/390A.  CV-591 was CE SS dead-nuts copy. 

Say it's stuff like this that becomes an obstacle to us guys
over 20 that once took these jobs becuse we were then immortal.  
Now we've got some bread & have become voltmeter & solder challenged.
Hence fall for stupid boolah boolah like "lovingly restored & blueprinted by 
Filmore Ballroom"
