This is kind of the same idea I'm looking at though I have been
considering chalk line (snap line) holders instead for use with #12
superflex wire. I should look at the clothesline reels instead since
they are definitely less expensive. The idea is to be able to erect a
dipole that can be adjusted quickly when changing bands and like the
way the GRA-4 does that. With 66' and some wiggle on each side, I can
cover everything from 80m up rather nicely.
About the locking tab ... I wonder if there wouldn't be a way to
relieve the load on that with some rather simple metalwork that would
transfer the load to the outer case or the wire reel itself.
Something to ponder, anyway.
