Why not keep the ATD and create a plausible ATD + ARB + ZB-3 combo? The ARB and the ATD frequency ranges (considering the tuning units normally supplied with the ATD) are very similar.
Adding the ZB-3 homing adapter to the mounting posts on the top of the ARB is a very simple project, since only a RF cable from the output of the ZB to the loop antenna terminals of the ARB and a three-wire power cable between the ZB and ARB are all that's required. No ZB relay or control boxes are required or desirable. Switching to homing mode on the ARB is then as simple as selecting the broadcast band and the loop on the ARB control box.
I wonder why the ATD was supplied WITHOUT the 200 to 500 kc transmitter tuning unit, but WITH the antenna tuning unit for that range. The BCB tuning unit normally found in the channel A slot would seem to me to have had little value.

I guess don't understand this. The ARB is considerably longer (and heavier) than the RU (or the GF), and is 28 vdc only.
