The Russian R-807, a copy of the ART-13 transmitter may be the longest
lasting design of that era still in use. Just saw again today on the
“Military Channel” a show that I think is produced by TLC called
“Special Forces, Manhunt” produced in 2004. In the beginning of the
show they drop the man that they hunt down in a section of Siberia by a
Russian commercial helicopter. In at least two shots you can see a rack
installed in the helicopter with a RPS receiver and an R-807
transmitter, so at least three or four years ago they were still using
an ART-13 copy with the more but not much more modern receiver. Also
noted a small commercial GPS mounted above the interments panel that
looked a lot like what you would use for your car, try doing that with
the FAA.
