Anyone have an ARR-41 Dyno deck that has been hacked or otherwise
modified? I would like to build an internal power supply for the 41 that
I have. It has the original dynamotor deck in perfect condition and do
not want to tamper with that so I want to find a hacked deck that I can
use to build up a new internal power supply and install. Also has anyone
operated the 41 on 24 volts AC for the filament string? I see no reason
why this won’t work but wanted to ask. One of the ideas I am playing
around with is using a 24 volt to 120 volt transformer on the new power
supply deck to feed a voltage doubler for generating 250 volts for the
B+, this way no chassis wiring changes and the radio is feed 24 volts
AC. All of this is an attempt to get around using the original dynamotor
deck that works fine but produces mechanical noise, another option is to
use a solid state replacement dynamotor deck but have to find one that
has 100 ma output. Have to wonder if their was ever a solid state
replacement built like what was installed in later ( B- series) T-195
transmitters or why they used 28 volts in the first place? I would have
thought by the fifties everything was going to 115 400 cycle by then.
