The original 1.5 watt "GF" from 1932, which designated both receiver and
transmitter*, was nearly identical with the early SCR-AA-183
to SCR-AC-183 sets. The diagrams in the manuals are near-
mirror images. The GF-1 was improved with double the power out,
and the GF-2 of 1934 was the "new and improved" 15 watt version
with which most of us are familiar.
Sorry Navy fans, but he Army set came first (June vs. Sept, IIRC).
* In 1932, the stand-alone receiver was designated "RU" and
the receiver/transmitter combination was designated "GF."
GF as a transmitter-only designation happened sometime
between the GF and GF-1.
