Pete I called contact back and "buncher beacom" IS the right term. That
was my bad, not his.
Would it be right to guess these ran in the 2-500kc band & the SCR-269
adf would then be employed for line-up. Like today's (disappearing)
NDBs

If viewed from the side you'd see a zig-zag pattern of acft all climbing
at 300fpm while criss-crossing the buncher beacon - which was called
"buncher 12" in the account... and it just had to be a simple NDB.
