This was how "we" knew who was doing the talking.  A Bug tends to even 
out a particular operator tendencies. 
This has been well documented technique on identifying  who was really 
sending a message.   Read about coast watchers.  It helps to have a 
human touch.  This was also communicated to me via an uncle and 
grandfather who both participated in WW2 who imparted the same 
information.  Uncle, Marine in PTO, Grandfather Army Air/Signal Corps 
ETO.  Looks like SOP.
