[Milsurplus] Higgins PT Boats

While Elco made the largest number of PT boats, some were made by Higgins.
The quintessential landing craft has the nickname "Higgins boat" but is
called by the Navy an LCVP(I think)(same Higgins?). Anyway that is a
tangent.
My question was about a PT boat, fast attack boat armed with torpedos, made
by Higgins.
My contact said the radio was HF, and also talked about the need to
maintain radio silence. It was also way smaller than a TBS. We considered
the possibililty that it was a TCS in vertical stacking format, but my
contact thought the units were wider and shorter.
There were lots of different power supplies for the TBX.
I am not questioning that many PT boats were equipped with TCS sets.
Another radio anecdote with respect to PT boats I have from a very sharp
Signal Corps officer who took a ride on a PT boat to look at some captured
Japanese RADAR gear. He said the two boats he was riding with tried in
vain to make radio contact and had to give up, pull alongside, and holler.
Sounds much more likely with a TBX than a TCS.
Still thinking about other possibilities.
