for lots of good info on phase converters, etc., plug that phrase into
google, BUT SEARCH THRU GROUPS (newsgroups), and specifically
news:rec.crafts.metalworking
lots of great people on that group, always willing to assist, plus they
probably have some archived projects, articles, etc; their knowledge
comes from the fact that most machine tools are 3 phase 220 (or 440), &
many of these guys are buying up this equipment to run in their garages,
home workshops, etc., where they only have 220 single phase available, &
are not financially able to have 3 phase installed at their domicile.
rotary converters, phase converters, variable frequency drives, etc.,
are all to be found in a quick search; this newsgroup is also very in-
teresting as conversations run the gauntlet from metalworking to elec-
tronics to resin molding to everything from A to Z; a quick post to that
group will typically receive multiple replies, all helpful.
lots of homebrewing going on there; some beautiful home-made CNC equip-
ment and tooling/fixturing to perform necessary work, building power
supplies to run that equipment, etc.
