Hi All,
Just found out some interesting things about power supplies. Bought an EMI
(Lambda) supply that is adjustable from 0 to 30 volts and puts out 165 amps
over the complete range. Fully adjustable for current/voltage/over current,
etc. It is a 5Kw unit. All the 28 volts I will ever need. PROBLEM at
least I thought it was a problem, it is a 3 phase unit. I was looking at
making a static converter, a rotary converter, all kinds of converters.
Would have been a fun project. Finally asked some one that actually works
and repairs these units what to do. His solution is just hook my 220v to
Phase a and Phase b. The unit will only put out about 3 Kw, but still lots
more than I need, This is a switcher, and has 3 bridges that feed into one
line, so I have one bridge that is not used. I don't think this will work
on units that have a Delta or Wye transformer, but apparently for the EMI /
Lambda switchers it is fine. Price was $80, I suspect because no one wanted
a 3 phase unit. Google is a great thing.
Cheers,
