[Milsurplus] Seen on Pentagon TV...

I was watching "Pentagon TV" the other day, showing a KW
film called "U.N. Forces Move North".  Noted a BC-1000/ "300
Set" with short antenna and oddly enough, the face cover on the
unit was flipped up - while the GI was moving. Maybe he had
just been changing freqs. Also some good views of command
tank with 2 aerials. Was surprised to see so many Sherman tanks
in use and no sign of any later.

Also noted on some video from Afghanistan a couple US Army
trucks with some kind of griillwork or cage over almost the whole
side of the vehicle.  Is this some kind of antiweapon screen
( i immediately thought of the sheets hung on sides of some
Panzers WW2 ) or is it just to provide for hanging kit items
