Thanks for the comments about my receiver. I have poked and prodded
and considered and slept on it for a couple of nights. I am going to
try to make the radio function again. It arrived here several years
ago with a big truckload of junk that I picked up for some other
materials it contained. I am not interested in selling it for a
profit. You wont find it on the auction place.
I like its potential for a working receiver that is practical to
operate portable with batteries. It covers part of a ham band and wwv
at 5 MHz. Even with all the problems that have to be overcome its just
too cool to hook up some cheap n nasty batteries and see it come to
life (gasping, wheezing, and all). It will make a great toy.
I might be able to repair the existing inductors when i get them out.
I may have to adapt a different IF tranformer into the rig. I can
fabricate a box to hold the receiver and protect it from further
damage. I think it may have had the exposed wiring under the chasis
jammed, crammed, and poked by foreign objects that caused dead short
circuits (smoke!) by previous owner(s).
It shouldn't cost a lot to make the repairs and especially if I am not
very concerned about keeping it "all original" for resale value. I
don't care about the resale value. I'm getting older so
using/sharpening my skills is critical to my personal vitality - and
its fun. I already have a couple of other radio projects going so this
will be dragged out a bit. I am also relocating and that is taking a
lot of my time. The relocation is also stressful and the radio
projects help with that (smile). I'm taking pics and documenting the
projects. I hope to eventually put them on the web.
Again....thanks for the comments.

Bill KU8H
