Back then, they could afford to research, innovate and do intricate work.
They did not have huge percentages of net income
going to pay the extortion-scam salaries demanded
by criminal corporate officers and boards. It's the second most destructive
criminal racket, just below the massive medical/insurance swindle.
Sophistication is wasted when there's little capital available to
implement it.
