Well,it's not very ergonomic for local control.Mine is set up with the
operator's controls as used in the remote mode,so there's the tuning
cable slop to deal with. The dial window is in an awkward position even
though it has a magnifying window and lamp.As usual for aircraft
receivers of the time, the IF is broad. It's a compact radio designed
for tight spaces. It does have a power connector for accessories which
is convienient.I have a ZB-3 and a DU-2 loop set up with my ARB.But I
can only use one or the other.I unplug one and plug in the other. Not
something that an actual operator would do.
As for performance,it did the job intended. When I use the DU loop and
a range filter I can listen to beacons quite well in the west coast of
CA area.
BTW, I'm looking for the push-pull cable and dash pull for the pilot's
position. This transfers remote control to the pilot.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Opinions of an ARB Receiver

What do people think of the ARB as a receiver? I've never owned one, but
have been interested in the set for a while. How does it compare to the
BC-348 family for example?

Thanks,
-John
