Kudo's to Mike Crestohl, W1RC for doing the legwork. He probably had
lots of help so Kudo's to his teamates too.I've never been to Deerfield
but I remember reading about it for many years.
I have many family ties to the Northeast and I can say with confidence
that Communiity Spirit is very much alive in this part of the
country.Hamfests and swapmeets are a wonderful example of folks
participating in their own neighborhoods and communities.
I hope everyone has a Happy St.Patrick's day and enjoys the Luck O'
the Irish!(You know,Corned Beef and Cabbage and Guinness Extra
Stout!).(My Mom says to saute the cabbage for 20 minutes in real butter
in a large frying pan and stir often.Taste of cabbage is much better.).

PS When I was a teenager I spent 3 summers paddling up the Allagash
Waterway in Maine. There was every kind of flying insect that was ever
created there and in abundance. We used something called "Old Woodsman"
that worked after a fashion.I think it was diluted creasote with Pine
scent added.

The BlackFly are often in high season in early May. If you go, remember
the insect repellent. Last seen, this venue had a lot of trees, etc.
FWIW,
