I had one for a while - it might still be in a footlocker in storage 
since 81 or so. Never had the batteries for it. I just thought it 
would be a neat chassis (gasp) for some project in the car. Can't 
remember if the tube was in it or not.

My GUESS would be as an intercom in some little two seater 
aircraft... L-3 or L-4... But if they were being used as spotters for 
artillery, I would imagine there was an installed radio set of some 
type. Then again, it would be useful if the radio was a BC-611...

Looks like two mic inputs & two headphone jacks, probably sized for 
the PJ-068 and PL-55.

All speculation!  Intercom for primary trainers sounds more 
realistic.
