Brooke,
Remember that some of the signals surveilled were telemetry. And in
that era (1960's) you could buy a bunch of them instead of one DC to
Daylight "Surveillance" or "Intercept" receiver. Later (1970's) all
band systems (like ACL or WJ) were more common.
I recognize the black plastic housing as a squirrel-cage blower. I've
seen that shape before, but I can't remember a specific make or model.
No idea on RCA patents.
