Yahbut, who in their right mind would scan such a document to html in the 
first place?  

Besides, it's much more comfortable to have a nice hard copy (aka original) 
with which you can lean back in your easy chair, feet propped, and a cold 807 
near to hand.  :-)  Sorry, that just slipped out.  And FWIW, the correct page 
count, including the quotation attributed to Santayana, is 688, exclusive of 
blank flyleaves.
