[Milsurplus] BC-342-N Question

I think it was actually the 2nd RF coil box I had to get into on a BC-312-N
(someone had managed to break one of the ceramic trimmers) instead of the
Detector but same answer. First make damn sure you want to replace that capacitor.
Then if you can't get at it pretty easily otherwise, pull the box. This
isn't actually as bad as it will look at first, but it does take time. First
disconnect the wires on top of the chassis going to the terminals on the can.
Good desoldering equipment is important here. Then crank the bandswitch around
until the cheesehead switch shaft (a flat bar) retaining screw is pointing up
(I think that's full CCW) and remove it. Pull the shaft completely out of the
set. Then there are four (I think) flat head screws through the top of the
chassis and some in the front. You might have to move some stuff to get at the
forward flatheads. I think I had to pull the antenna trimmer to get at the
2nd RF.
