[Milsurplus] AS-2259 Antenna Test and Notes

Hi breck:

On your web page I think you are saying the stock antenna wires are 24'10" and
36' 10" or is 24.10 a different kind of unit?

The NVIS group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NVIS/ usually adds some length to
both dipoles rather than use them as is. It's easier than a matching circuit
especially for hams that are going to be working in narrow frequency bands, not
at any random frequency.

I've been thinking about the mast/coax and believe it needs to be low loss
since the VSWR all along the mast/coax is high. I wonder if the dimensions
match some common hard line and if so is there a stock adapter to type-N?

For working with military radios either type-N or BNC connectors would be more
common than the ham SO-239. I don't think any mil radios have used the SO-239
since W.W.II. For example to use coax on the PRC-47 you use the UG-1816/PRC-47
Antenna Adapter which is type-N, the PRC-104 is BNC, etc.

Have Fun,
