Mildly interesting that "Army Air Force Radio Equipment TM 1-472"
Dec.  1942 still lists SCR-287 as transmitting 350-600, 1500-12500
kcs. and receives 1500-18000 kcs.   If flying over water was the
criterion, Army planes flying transpacific and transatatlantic hops
would already have had LF liaison receive.  -Hue Miller
