Tower communications would have been accomplished with the command
equipment, not liaison, right?
On the overseas flights: i and perhaps others maybe took this to mean
"over seas" when it actually means outside USA and Canada. The
600 kcs watch would have been a use, yes, but over ocean flights
would not have been that common. I get the impression from reading
"Off the Beam" that QTE bearings were used a lot, in outside of USA
flying. So i have to admit i am still a bit puzzled about the LF band
on the BC-348. Still seems not all that important. In looking at the
Berne lists, i did not see any ground stations for aviation service
that had only LF frequencies available.
BTW, when Benghazi gave the Lady Be Good that bearing, was
it on the Lady's LF transmitter, or on a HF channel, do you suppose?
I know the US had a network of Adcock equipment HF DF stations,
which i think included some outside the US.
