You've pegged 'em Hue. There's 2 xtals, rx & tx, in the holder in 6hmz range
& rig -civvy name WE233- multiplied by 24 thru chain of 6V6s.
Don't laff, 6V6 metal had 'button base' inside & served well. But
6V6GT had usual 'pinch header' & long leads & wudn't do.
Navy put 'em in many planes in early '43 beating scr-522 by at
least half year. ARC-4 140-144 & '522 100-156. Range wasn't
Navy-matched for 2 years 'til arc-1.
Have 2 Navy radio lineups. A Corsair fm early '44 & ARC-4 there. Not
in SBD in late '42.
Dunno possible 140-144 shipboard set, mebbe '233 only for 'command
svc'
Navy knew a good vhf thing quick
Me'n a pal have 2 12-volt 4Xs running here & a pair of matching
xtals might be fb. They can easily be 'kissed' into 2m.
Or.... any fcc people out there?
Ask what time it is & comes a watchmaking lesson
