Right you are, Dave - using a semi-direct connection, I found significant,
half-power spikes at 1/2 and 2x the xtal f., plus many smaller pips scattered
from around 12mc to 400-ish (some of which could have been internally generated
in my HP 182T w/ 8558B opt 002 specalyzer).

BUT - when I unhooked the cable from the HP, pulled up the antenna on the dummy
load/wattmeter/field strength meter, and transmitted a couple feet to a 1/8-wave
wire on the spec analyzer's input, I got only a strong spike at the crystal f.,
and no detectable spikes anywhere else, so your guess is correct: the antenna
acts as a narrow-band filter.

My original concept of using these on a scanner antler obviously ain't a'gonna
work ... no biggee.  Tuned 'tenners it is ...    e
