Actually, about like Slick Willie is reputed to have said, it depends upon 
what "interchangable" is.  As with why there are three different TCS shipboard 
supplies, the three basic models of rectifier power supply for the military 
models of the Hammarlund SP-100 and 200 series all have the same outputs.  But 
their input ratings differ.  RA-74-(*) is rated 90-130 and 190-260 VAC, 25-60 
Hz.  RA-84-(*) is rated 105-125 VAC, 50-60 Hz.  RA-94-(*) is rated 115/230 VAC 
50-60 Hz.  So for someone living in a 115 VAC 60 Hz world, they ARE all 
interchangable.  

The different model letters on each of the three models are a result of a 
combination of modifications during production and/or sometimes but not often the 
Signal Corps did as the Navy almost always did - new order equals new model 
letter.
