I wasn't being clear.
I was drawing comparisons between the two sets.
Jay had commented on the antenna in the field photo
being too large for a 222, to which I replied that
the 222s antenna was large, that the 322 antenna
was much thinner and smaller, which might have been
what he saw out west. The second, posed photo has
the large 222 antenna, which extends to 15 feet
if you want longer range or for fixed installations.
The headphones and hand mike were standard to the 222
(notice the operator's thumb, over the top of the microphone
rather than to the side. That's a give-away for a 222 mike,
as is the specific shape of the headphones).
The handset was specified for the 322.
In practice, photographic evidence shows that the clunky,
unreliable headset/microphone was often replaced
with the handset, which is a lot easier to deal with.
I have a BC-222 that is Signal Corps modified to
take the handset for the BC-1000.
Only one I've ever seen like it.
