I had a similar experience, 92-days for a motorcycle carb to make it from here in the USA to England. It was during the Christmas rush season also so it was considered good time. The problem comes in that the postal service is filling sea containers the size of a semi trailer. Sometimes it might take a month or more to accumulate enough mail to fill one going to a particular location. I always stress this to a person insisting on saving money that it could a number of months for arrival via surface post verses a week by air post.
